In a Q&A published on the NYU Law website, corporate partner Laura Turano discussed her career in law and her recent work on a series of big deals, including WestRock’s $20 billion combination with Smurfit Kappa, Merck’s $10.8 billion acquisition of Prometheus Biosciences, and Carrier Global’s $4.95 billion sale of Global Access Solutions to Honeywell. In “M&A Lawyer Laura Turano ’11, LLM ’12 on Making Billion-Dollar Deals in a Tough Market,” published on May 19, Laura shares what she loves about M&A work and the skills she draws on to close deals. She also discusses her approach to teaching an M&A course as an adjunct at NYU School of Law and how that relates to her work with associates at the firm.
Laura says that solving clients’ problems as if they were her own is key, particularly in a tough market. “I’m really fortunate to be at Paul, Weiss,” Laura says, “because I feel strongly that my associates and partners are all problem solvers at their core.”
