John Carlin and Sam Kleiner Warn Companies to Review Compliance With New Data Security Rule in Bloomberg Law

Litigation partner John Carlin and counsel Sam Kleiner co-authored an article in Bloomberg Law on compliance requirements pertaining to the Department of Justice’s new data security rule. In “DOJ Data Security Rule Has Ticking Clock for Companies to Comply,” published on May 20, the authors discuss the new regulations restricting the sharing of sensitive personal data with foreign adversaries. The article outlines steps companies should take to avoid significant civil and criminal penalties, including assessing internal datasets to see if they are subject to the new rule, reviewing data-sharing agreements with foreign entities for compliance, and implementing required data compliance policies, among other steps.
