Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP announced today that Leo Kitchen will join the firm in London as a partner in the Litigation Department, continuing the growth of its London litigation capabilities. Kitchen, a litigation rising star, focuses his practice on complex commercial, financial and competition disputes, including competition-related collective proceedings and related damages claims, banking and financial products litigation, and contentious restructuring issues, as well as public law and regulatory disputes adverse to government and state entities.
"Leo’s expertise in complex commercial and financial disputes will greatly enhance our growing litigation practice in the UK,” said Paul, Weiss Chairman Brad S. Karp. “His deep understanding of competition law and experience with high-stakes financial matters will further strengthen our ability to provide our clients with creative and comprehensive legal solutions.”
“We are thrilled that Leo is joining our London litigation team,” said Richard Hornshaw, head of the European Litigation Group. “His reputation for handling the most complex commercial, financial and competition disputes, combined with his experience across multiple jurisdictions, will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our practice.”
Kitchen has handled some of the largest competition-related disputes and most complex contentious restructuring issues before the English Courts, and has proven his ability to take disputes all the way to trial as well as to broker settlements of even the most intractable and complex disputes. He has experience acting for the claimant and defense sides, including in class and group claims, in a wide array of legal settings, including numerous appearances before the English High Court (including specialist courts such as the Commercial Court and the TCC), specialist tribunals, and appellate courts including the UK Supreme Court. Given his frequent involvement in complex cross-border litigation spanning multiple jurisdictions, Kitchen also has experience before numerous foreign courts. Kitchen has acted on behalf of a range of clients, from asset management firms to FTSE 100 companies across a variety of sectors, including the financial and payment services, transport, aerospace, luxury goods and energy sectors.
Kitchen has been recognized by Legal 500 UK in their competition and banking litigation rankings, including as a Rising Star in the Banking Litigation: Investment & Retail section and as a Next Generation Partner.
